I live on The Isle of Wight which is right in the center of the south coast of England. I was born and grew up and went to school on the island, but have worked in many places around the country and abroad in my role as a software developer whilst being based in Southampton writing software for SMEs around the world. I also, whilst working there, designed and built hardware for the UK MoD and US DoD and then wrote the software that made it work. I did a lot of web development and database development / administration. I wrote a logging program for amateur radio called Log_RES which was at the time fairly comprhensive. It did call lookups, distance and bearing calculations, dx cluster, world maps, solar activity etc, all live. It fed the log data direct to my website in real time from the MySQL database running on my DB server. I was lucky enough to have a static IP address at the time so hosted my website from a webserver in my shack. There was also a phpBBS running too.
